Convergint Technologies is a leading security systems integrator with multiple locations across
North America. Their business provides upfront assessments, system design, installation and
support for electronic security, fire alarm, life safety and building automation system needs. With
locations all over North America, they have a mobile workforce made up of project managers,
estimators and sales people who visit customer sites on a regular basis.
Challenges they faced
Back in 2007, business leaders at Convergint
searched for a better way to reimburse their mobile
workers. Prior to partnering with Motus, Convergint
was reimbursing their mobile workers with a flat
allowance each month through their payroll system.
This type of program created headaches for managers
who were left responsible for chasing down their
employees' proof of vehicle insurance. The biggest
drawback was that it cost their employees in taxes
at the end of the year, so they looked for a tax-free
reimbursement program to save the business and
their mobile employees in FICA and income taxes.
Goals for their team
Convergint wanted a tax-free mileage reimbursement
program that would help them control costs,
streamline the process for enrolling employees in
a vehicle reimbursement program and automate
their insurance validation process. That's when they
discovered Motus. Fast forward 10 years later and
Convergint Technologies still relies on Motus to
reimburse their mobile workforce.
