Motus, LLC | Two Financial Center Boston, MA 02111 (888) 312-0788 Keeping The Mobile Workforce In Motion Why Choose? In the past, mobile workforce managers had to choose between fleet and reimbursement programs to provide for their employees. This is no easy decision for those with vehicle programs already in place. Employers that own many company vehicles are oen hesitant to switch to personal vehicle reimbursement programs, while those already providing reimbursements may find purchasing / leasing, storing, and maintaining corporate vehicles daunting. Enacting an entirely new program, though cost-effective over time, requires initial financial investment, poses administrative challenges, and introduces changes in company culture that employers may not be ready to undertake. This either-or-scenario created a large ri between fleet managers and reimbursement professionals in the past, as only one option could be implemented. Both sides believed their programs were effective and equitable–and both were right. With the correct program and technology platform in place - one that accurately captures and accounts for the business use of personal vehicles or the personal use of corporate vehicles - both fleet and reimbursement programs should have cost parity. Custom Hybrid Options Most companies find themselves somewhere in the middle of the fleet/reimbursement divide: able to benefit the most from reimbursing some employees for using their personal vehicles while providing company-owned transportation to others. Until recently, though, mobile workforce managers had to perform thorough research to evaluate both programs, weigh the pros and cons of each, and decide on only one option. Today's mobile workforce managers no longer face the fleet or reimbursement dilemma. Technology has evolved to enable companies to fairly reimburse for the business use of personal vehicles, accurately charge back for the personal use of company-provided vehicles, or implement hybrid solutions combining the two options to meet their business-specific needs. Using GPS mileage capture technology, employers can easily automate commute deductions, track and differentiate personal/ business mileage, sync travel logs, capture time and place data, and optimize routes for both fleet and reimbursement programs. New mobile workforce technology allows companies to implement, manage, and streamline combined fleet/reimbursement programs without sacrificing economic parity.
